Aortic stenosis is a tightening of the aortic valve in the heart. If you have been diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis, you may have to decide whether to fix your valve.
Treatments may include transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) or symptom management. TAVR is also referred to as transcatheter aortic valve implantation, or TAVI.
Depending on what you are considering, booklets in the sections below can help you understand your condition and learn about your options.
You, your family, and your clinicians can begin to talk about what decision is best for you.
If you have been told that TAVR (also called TAVI) or SAVR are options for you or your loved one, use the decision aids below to help decide which treatment might work best for you.
